Pledge the Pink is different than any other race or walk you’ve ever done before. And we’d like to think it is the best one, too! But we understand that all the island hopping logistics and flamingo talk might be a little confusing for first-time FlockStars so we made a little Newbie Guide just for yall!
Getting Here
We are based on Fripp Island this year which is about a 90 minute drive south of Charleston (CHS) or a 90 minute drive north of Savannah (SAV). The Hilton Head airport (HHH) is about 75 minutes away.
Don’t worry about car rental just yet! We have a rideshare page on Facebook that you can usually figure out carpooling from any of these three airports. And once you get to Fripp, you’ll find that golf carts are the mode of transportation. 🙂
Fripp Island Resort
Paradise is our Playground
Fripp Island Resort will be our home base in 2020. All of our races will start on Fripp and/or we will bus you to adjacent islands from Fripp, and all our “Fancy Camp” activities will take place at the Resort’s pools, beaches, marina, and other amenities. So if you’re looking for convenience, fun, and affordable rentals, you’ll definitely want to stay at Fripp.
They have thousands of houses, condos, studios, and crash pads to fit everyone’s budget. All rentals booked thru the Resort include full access to their private amenities and a NOON CHECKOUT. And most rentals include golf carts.

Other Accommodations
Downtown Beaufort
Cool little waterfront town…. and less than 30 minutes to Fripp. Enjoy shopping, restaurants, history, carriage rides, and the convenience of being in town. Tons of B&Bs, small inns, and many budget friendly hotels to choose from. LINK to Beaufort CVB.
Dataw Island
You may also want to consider staying in one of Dataw’s waterfront villas where you can enjoy country club living and be less than 15 minutes to historic downtown Beaufort and to beautiful Fripp Island! Call (843) 838-3838 and inquire about their Bluff Villas.
Harbour Island
Harbour Island is about a five-ten minute drive from Fripp and has dozens of oceanfront villas and homes available for rent. It is a small gated community and is close to many local restaurants. Look on VRBO or similar sites to compare prices- they are usually 20% cheaper than properties on Fripp.

When should I get there?
Immediately. It’s beautiful here.
But in case that doesn’t work for you: you’ll want to be in town at least Thursday through Sunday of race weekend.
And you’ll probably want to stick around for all the post-race festivities on Sunday. So yeah, try to stay until Monday if you can.
If you decide to stay longer, you’ll be in good company. Tons of our peeps stick around after the blisters have healed and make the best weekend of their life, the best week of their life!
Come on, you worked hard and kicked some serious cancer-butt. We sure think a vacation is in order.
How do we get from one island to the next?
We will either walk/run to the islands from Fripp or we will bus you to the various islands as necessary.
What are the hours every day/time limit?
Friday and Saturday are 9am starts and Sunday kicks off at 7:30 so we can catch the sunrise.
You’ll need to be at the start line for instructions and announcements at least 15 minutes before START every morning.
Most people finish our 10 mile courses in 3 hours but you’ve got up to 4 hours to complete it, so enjoy!
And yes, we do offer 5-mile routes for those of you that want an abbreviated version of the fun!
The after-parties usually crank up 2 hours after the START and go for about 4 hours total.
Can my friends/family cheer me on?
Yes, we love friends and family! In fact, we probably have a few things they can do for us while you’re out beatin’ feet. See if they might be interested in volunteering for an hour or two.
Is there a discount for kids?
Children 12 and under can sign up for a flat fee of just $100.
We’ve watched dozens of kids grow up in our races every year. Seriously empowering stuff.
And they love going back to school dripping in our medals!
